With a genuine personal interest in the
clients, a keen sensitivity to their circumstances and needs, and the most
LWCC councellors are professional counsellors with training background in social work
and marriage and family therapy. With a genuine personal interest in the
clients, a keen sensitivity to their circumstances and needs, and the most
appropriate and effective techniques, LWCC counsellors walk alongside their
clients as they deal with challenges in life.
The counselling approach used at LWCC deals with the whole person, addressing his/her
psychological, physiological as well as spiritual needs. It seeks out the
client's history, identifies root causes of family or marital problems, and
utilizes a multifaceted approach to help re-shape relationships or rebuild the
family unit, enabling the client to return to a happy and fulfilled life.
LWCC counselling is not just listening and giving advice. It is an interactive
process that the counsellor goes through with the client. It starts with the
counselor listening and trying to understand the circumstances and difficulties
faced by the client; and then working with the client to pinpoint the problem
that needs to be resolved. From there, the client and the counsellor establish
specific and achievable goals, and formulate a creative and practical plan to
reach those goals. With the courage to confront his/her problem, and a
willingness for introspection, the client goes through this process and learns
new ways of viewing his/her challenges, making choices and discovering his/her
hidden ability to cope in life, and to manage change.
